So exciting!.... We have baby chicks ! The kids have been waiting and waiting !

We have six of them, so adorable they are 1 1/2 weeks old and live in a box right now. We will move them to our waiting chicken coop when they are 6weeks old.

Also want to remind you to mark your calanders for the Pizza Potluck on May 17th

The Strawberry Fields are planned for next Tuesday..so much fun we are all very excited !

Good Morning ! Book Orders went home yesterday and are due back on Monday ...I know there are quite a stack of them, try to

muddle through ! 

 Here are a few tips:

              1. Try the $1 books can't really go wrong there and they are usually good books by known authors

               2. A good book does NOT have to be linked to their favorite movie or t.v. show

               3. Look for simple...rhyming...repetitive text

               4. And yes it is a GOOD thing that they ask to read the same book over and over and over......

 I know they will like ...

 The Pumpkin Patch....Too much fun...the animals...the pumpkins and we had the whole place to ourselves. It was great !

They might want to think about putting a lock on that chicken coop however..."somebody" almost opened the door and let all the chickens

out...not mentioning any names !

Happy October!

Colors for the month are orange and black.

Yesterday we had a Fire Drill....everyone did GREAT ! I generally alternate between Fire drills and earthquake drills every month. Our meeting place is under the big tree in the sand box out back. I use the smoke detector as a signal and everyone walked right out and sat down under the tree just perfectly. Hope we never have to put our practicing to use....It is a good idea to practice fire drills at home as well. Have a designated meeting place and emphasize the importance of staying at that safe place to wait for mom/dad or firefighters. Next time I will take pictures... They all agreed that the smoke detector was REALLY LOUD !!

APPLE PICKING IN JULIAN !

We went to a small Orchard in Julian called Raven Hill just off of Wynola Rd. We had such a great time. We just wandered down the rows of apple trees filling our apple bags with the sweetest apples. Then of course we sat under an apple tree to have a little snack.  After we get home we will have to make some apple pies and some applesauce.

Before our trip we tasted different types of apples and talked about our favorites and how they can have different colors and tastes..here are some pictures...
